Major bovine smuggling bid foiled, 35 bovine animals rescued

Ramban, Jan 10: In continuation to its special drive against the menace of bovine smuggling launched on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban-Anita Sharma
Police spokesman said that today police parties led by Inspector Vijay Kotwal-SHO Ramban & Inspector-Abid Bukhari- SHO Chanderkote under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ramban-Asgar Malik and under the close supervision of Addl. SP Ramban-Sanjay Parihar raised surprise naka's near Shan Palace and Chanderkote on NHW, Ramban.
"During checking, 2 vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02AQ-3147 (Truck) and JK19-6601 (Tata Mobile) got intercepted near Shan Palace and on search of the said vehicles, both found loaded with 20 & 09 bovine animals respectively", said spokesman.
Similarly one vehicle (Tata mobile) bearing registration number JK02BU-6102 got intercepted at Chanderkote and found loaded with 06 bovine animals. Total 35 bovine animals have been rescued and all the vehicles have been seized. Spokesman said that the three suspected bovine smuggler namely Anwar Hussain of Khanpora, Nagrota, Mohd Yousuf of Thathar Banihal and Mohd Irfan of Kunfer Chanderkote have been taken into custody. "On questioning, the suspected persons revealed that they were trying to smuggle these bovine animals towards Kashmir without seeking permission from the concerned authorities", said spokesman adding that in this regard cases under FIR No. 08/19 and 09/19 under section 188 of RPC, 3 PC Act got registered at Police Station Ramban and FIR No 01/19 under section 188 of RPC 3 PC act got registered at Chanderkote police station. Investigation taken up to ascertain the sources and other persons involved in the crime.
