Reasi, Jan 10: Dr. Banarsi Lal, I/C, Senior Scientist-cum-Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) has been awarded the "Outstanding Scientist Award 2018" by the Society of Tropical Agriculture in the 8th international conference on "Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Science" recently held at New Delhi. The extraordinary achievements and commitments of the scientist in the field of agriculture and allied sectors were genuinely recognised by the esteem society for the prestigious award. The versatile scientist was selected for the prestigious "Outstanding Scientist Award 2018" on the basis of his research papers, books, book chapters, success stories, popular articles, case studies, Radio/TV talks, invited talks, trainings imparted, guest lectures delivered, consultancy services, SHGs/Farmers Clubs/FPO managed, research and extension technologies refined, developed and disseminated, eco-friendly agriculture, consultancy projects undertaken etc. for the welfare of the farming community residing in the hilly areas of Udhampur and Reasi district of J&K. Dr. Banarsi, a Gold Medalist and an alumnus of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi has developed an innovative Exponential Communication Model which is unique in itself to assess the communication behaviour of the farmers and has been appreciated at national and international level. He did extensive research on communication model building with the renowned Professor, Dr. Dipak De, Ex. Prof &HOD, Deptt. of Extension Education, BHU, Varanasi. |
