Fake currency seized in Rajouri, three held

Rajouri, Jan 11: Security forces here have busted a narco- terrorism racket in Rajouri district and claimed to have arrested three persons and recovered fake currency from their possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajouri-Yougal Manhas said that a team of Special Operation Group (SoG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police under the supervision of DySP Police Component-Pranav Mahajan along with a team of 38 Rashtriya Rifle unit raised a naka at Manyal Gali Thanamandi on Thanamandi- DKG road when a car bearing registration number PB02AK-7288 on way towards Rajouri was signalled to stop.
Although, the driver attempted to break the checkpoint but personals of army and police managed to foil the attempt and overpowered the driver, said SSP.
The car was put to through frisking during which fake currency notes worth 15,100 rupees with 43 notes of 200 and 13 notes of 500 denomination were recovered from the possession of one Javaid Ahmed resident of Kulgam, he further added.
Soon after the recovery, he was arrest while two other persons travelling in the car identified as Abdul Rashied and Bilal Ahmed Dar, both residents of Kulgam were also arrested, said SSP who further said that all the three persons have been lodged in Thanamandi police station while further investigation is going on in the case to unearth the further links.
It has come to notice in the initial investigation that trio were in link with some drugs peddlers of Rajouri and Poonch and were supplying drugs / narcotics substances with the use of fake currency and were part of a narco-terrorism racket.
The vehicle has also been seized and a case under FIR No 02/2019 under sections 489-B, 489-C RPC, 11/13/17/21/40 ULA has been registered in Thanamandi police station.
