Hakla demands special developmental package for Gujjars, Bakarwals

POONCH, Jan 20: Shamsher Hakla Poonchi demanded special development package of r Gujjars and Bakarwals communities as the habitation areas of Gujjars and Bakarwals in J&K are lacking in facilities like road communication, electricity, water supply schemes, medical facilities and educational facilities which put them in lots of hardships and troubles.
As per statement issued here, Shamsher Hakla Poonchi said that the Gujjar Bakarwal community of J&K state mostly resides in Hilly, Far-flung and mountainous areas near forests and on the LOC of Indo-Pak.Excluding Leh & Kargil Gujjar Bakarwal community has its habitation in twenty (20) districts of J&K state with the population over 34(thirty-four) lakhs. He said that the needs and the problems of Gujjar Bakarwal community are quite different from other communities of J&K state. Language and culture of Gujjar Bakarwal community is also different from other communities of J&K state and as such the community has a distinct identity and a peculiar position. He also said that Gujjar Bakarwal community of J&K state is socially, educationally, economically and politically backward. He appealed to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satyapal Malik to approach the government of India with the recommendation for sanctioning the special developmental package for the Gujjars and Bakarwals of Jammu and Kashmir so that the habitation areas of Gujjars and Bakarwals may get developed and for their welfare as well and also they could get the facilities like road communication, electricity, water supply schemes, medical facilities and educational facilities.
