11 sportspersons to get Sher-i-Kashmir award, Parshuram for 6 coaches

JAMMU, Jan 20: 11 prominent sportspersons of the state have been selected for conferment of Sher-i-Kashmir award for bringing laurels to the country and state of Jammu and Kashmir in particular for the year 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. Similarly, 6 coaches have been selected for Parshuram award for excellence in their field. The selected awardees shall be honoured by a medal, a citation; cash prize of Rs 51 thousand and a scroll of honour besides a ceremonial dress.
This was disclosed by Secretary, J&K State Sports Council through Sports Council order no. 65 of 2019 dated 15-01-2019 on the basis of recommendation of in-house committee and duly approved by Advisor to Governor, J&K state vide communication No: OSD (A)/1047 dated 09-01-2019.
The selected sportspersons include ace Wushu player Rajinder Singh, commonwealth Fencing medal winner Shreya Gupta, Thang-Ta player Tamajud Saif, Skiing player Wasik-ul-Billaah, Shooting player Shikha Bhadauria, Netball player Akash Batra, Fencing player Ranchan Sabarwal, Roller skating player Sahil Gupta, Gymnast Karanjyot Singh, Rollball player Hiteshwar Singh, Skiing player Sabiya Nabi. The coaches who have been selected for Parshuram award are Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Nirmal Singh, Manisha Gupta, Inderpal Singh, Dalbir Kumar and Anil Sharma. As per Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, a function shall be held shortly to honour these selected players and coaches.
