CMO Kulgam, others booked for purchasing hospital equipments on exorbitant rates

SRINAGAR, Feb 1: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked then Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam and others for purchasing outdated hospital equipments on exorbitant rates.
ACB South Kashmir has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act on outcome of Joint Surprise Check (JSC) conducted into the allegations that during the year 2016-17, equipments for strengthening of Operat-ion Theatres/ Labour Rooms and Blood Banks at district Hospital Kulgam and its other Sub District Hospitals were procured at exorbitant rates in violation of codal formalities by the then CMO Kulgam Ashiq Hussain Mir and others officers/officials of CMO's office Kulgam.
During the course of JSC, it has been surfaced that the then CMO and other officers /officials posted at District Kulgam in league with suppliers prominently M/S Sea Green Traders, caused loss to the State exchequer and conferred undue pecuniary benefit upon themselves by misuse of their official positions and have not only procured out dated items but on highly exorbitant rates as well.
Accordingly a Case FIR No. 01/2019 section 5(1), d) r/w 5(2) of J&K PC Act, Svt; 2006 read with section 120-B RPC in Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau Anantnag was registered against accused persons namely Ashiq Hussain Mir, then CMO Kulgam and other officers/officials and beneficiary supplier firm/s.
