8 lakh people of Kishtwar, Doda without power for 6th consecutive day | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 11: The NHPC and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Department which is responsible for maintenance of 132 KV transmission line that supplies electricity to twin Districts of Kishtwar and Doda has failed to restore electricity to 8 lakh population of Chenab Valley since last six consecutive days today. As per the details available with Early Times, the NHPC authorities even fail to restore electricity up to Khilani Grid Station so that the electricity to Doda District could be restored. The angry people questioned the NHPC authorities for regular damages to 132 KV transmission line while at the same time, the 440 KV transmission line that connects 390 MW Dool-Hasti power project to North grid never develop any fault or interruption. The people said that the studies of the students is suffering badly while the whole area is also facing water crisis since the authorities fail to lift the water in Kishtwar town from Hasti HRT point. They said that due to non availability of electricity, the mobiles had become a liability for the people as Rs. 50 is being charged for mobile charging by some outlets that are using generator sets for this new business. Meanwhile, the Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway has been thrown open for vehicular movement today while yesterday some vehicles manage to play on this National Highway. The authorities said that they are regularly monitoring the situation of the road and had fix timing for departure of the vehicles added that Kuligard landslide area has become the vulnerable point that hold key for its operation. Keeping in view of the fresh forecast for next few days, the public sufferings are likely to be increased as people are facing problems with regard to non availability of ration, Kersone Oil, LPG and medicine. Arif Hussain, a Sarpanch from Halour in Kuntwara inform the Early Times that several houses suffered damages in the area due to snowfall beside fruit bearing plants also suffered massive damages and called upon the authorities to depute revenue official team for accessing the losses. |
