Militants quite active in Kashmir for reducing polling percentage
2/17/2019 11:19:40 PM
Was it an attempt to force the release of some militants, who have been lodged in Srinagar jail ? Or was it an attempt by unknown persons to blow the jail premesis to get militants killed thereby blaming the jail authorities ?What it was hurling a bomb which exploded outside the jail premises. Unknown persons have lobbed a petrol bomb towards the highly fortified Central Jail, Srinagar. Unknown persons hurled a petrol bomb towards the Central Jail, Srinagar from rear side. It missed the target and exploded outside the jail. Had it exploded inside the jail premises scores of prisoners and jail olfficials would have either been killed or injured.Since the bomb exploded outside the jail premises There was no loss of life or any damage in the incident,. After the incident, forces rushed to the scene and heightened the vigil outside the jail. A manhunt was launched by forces to nab the attacker. However, no arrests were reported.
Central Jail Srinagar is highly fortified and CCTVs have been installed around it. The forces maintain round the clock vigil in and around Central Jail to foil any untoward incident. This is the second petrol bomb blast in city in this month. Earlier, on 4 February a petrol bomb was hurled at CRPF bunker at Jawahar Nagar area. It had exploded off the target without causing any injuries. The Monday's petrol bomb incident comes two days after 11 persons were injured in grenade blast at Lal Chowk area of the city.On February 10, four civilians, three police men and four CRPF men were injured after militants lobbed a grenade towards CRPF's 132 battalion stationed at Palladium cinema in Lal Chowk.Since January, militants have carried a series of grenade attacks in Srinagar including at Lal Chowk and Rajbagh area.Senior police officers and those manning the interlligence agencies have been asked to enquire into the incident and those behind the plot were ar rested.
It was premature to say whether or not the movement of militants or their Over Ground Workers (OGWs) has increased in the city.As of now, nothing about these has come to fore clearly. However, indications are that militancy has travelled from South Kashmir to SrinagarFollowing the grenade incidents, the security around Lal Chowk has been further beefed up.This calls for deployment of additional companies of security forces. One militant, who managed to liberate Naveed Jutt from the hospital has been killed in an encounter in Pulwama where one Armyman was also killed..Not a day is left when encountgers do not take place between militants and security forces.Even after the killing of some militants people come out to pelt stones on the security forces. But there is one significant improvement.Neither the crods surface when militants anter into an encounter with the security forces nor crods surface whenever militants, after being killed, are taken to burial ground. This is the outcome of frear.Security forces opened fire whenever crwds engaged in stone pelting. The grenade attack on the central jail and ther IED attack on CRPF convoy,in which 40 personnel were killed, seem to be an attempt at scaring voters so that on the polling days they remain indoors.
