Jammu, Mar 6: It might sound strange but fact that an engineer who is accused of embezzlement in a complaint filed by his colleague, has been made head of enquiry committee to ascertain allegations leveled against him.
According to documents available with Early Times, Ashok Kumar, Executive Engineer, REW, Rural Development Department, Jammu has filed a complaint in Grievance Cell vide ID (999001027220), alleging that XEn REW, Bashir Ahmed Shiekh and then EXn, REW Ramban, now Superintending Engineer, REW, Jammu had embezzled huge public money.
Astonishingly, the Director General, RDD Jammu to hush-up the enquiry from JK Grievance Cell, has made the accused officer head of enquiry committee.
"Bashir Ahmed Sheikh and Shabir Ahmed Chowdhry then Executive Engineer REW Ramban allegedly embezzled lakhs of rupees in the execution of ground floor and B/wall of MPC Hail Batroo. The MPC Hall Batroo was taken up for execution to pay special tribute to late D.D. Thakur then Dy. CM. The said building could not be completed due to the shortage of funds. If they can embezzle lakhs from such VVIP building work, then what they may have done with other works", clause d of complaint filed by XEn Ashok Kumar read.
Sources said that one of members of five enquiry committee is junior officer, and presently working under one of accused engineer. "The fifth member of enquiry committee i.e. Technical Officer to Superintending Engineer, REW, Jammu, has been made member", they said.
They said that to defeat 'whistleblower' engineer who raised his voice against unholy practice in the department, has been made scapegoat. "He was attached with directorate, and now all officers have united and trying their best to manipulate the thing to give safe passage to blacksheep", they added. |
