| Urban Forestry Jammu undertakes plantation drive | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 8: Urban Forestry Jammu in collaboration with Mother the Nature NGO undertook plantation drive on bank of irrigation canal Trikuta Nagar earning accolades from public in general and residents of area in particular.
S S Bijral former IGP and patron of the NGO explaining to the media said that a proposal was mooted to the Divisional Commissioner to provide green cover on both banks of irrigation canal in Trikuta Nagar that shall not only beautify the area and save canal from being used as garbage dumping site but will also provide relief to floating population and residents who use it in summer to beat scorching heat. He said Sanjiv Verma the Div Com appreciated the project and directed XEn PWD Div 1 to expeditiously take up laying of pits. Liaison with Sunil Singh DFO Urban Forestry Jammu, Bijral said resulted in the launch of the drive today.
Sameer Bharti Chief Consrvator Forest Jammu inaugurated the drive with S S Bijral former IGP and thanked the latter for his vision and effort for turning Jammu Green. People in general and local residents of Trikuta Nagar applauded the effort of Urban Forestry Jammu Division and also of Mother the Nature NGO. |
