USTA holds meet, highlights pending demands

kathua, Mar 21: A general body meeting of J&K United School Teacher's Association (USTA) held under the Presidium of Hari Singh, Rajeev Kumar, Kanta Devi & Roop Chand. While speaking on the occasion provincial president Hari Singh strongly condemned the commercialization and privatization policies of central and state govt. towards education which have destroyed the foundation of public education system. The authorities at the helm of affairs are not paying any heed towards the needs of the govt. schools as well as the demands of the teaching community. Even wages and other dues have not been paid for months or even more than a year. Thousands of teachers remain engaged in non-academic duties such lackadaisical approach of govt. has ruined the public education system. The meeting in voice appeals the Governor Administration to release 6-7 months pending salary of Head teachers working under SSA now SAMAGRA along with arrears of 7th pay commission, speed up the process of conversion of RRET's in grade-II, place all under graduate RRET's in grade-II, debar teachers from non-academic duties, start pre-primary classes in all schools having primary classes and provide required infrastructure, release senior teacher grade in favor of trained under graduate teachers and remove anomalies in their time bound promotion cases, fill all vacant posts in education department. USTA appeals the authorities to concede these just and genuine demands at an earliest otherwise organization will be compelled to stage strong protest at Press Club Jammu on 29-03-2019.Others who addressed the gathering includes Pardeep Singh, Zulfkar Ali Malik, Sham Lal, Ashok Kumar, Thuru Ram, Rash Paul Singh, Dharam Paul, Bali Mohd., Rattan Chand, Shamsher Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Ganesh Dutt and Sher Ali etc.
