Why no holiday on birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh?, people asking BJP on social media
3/21/2019 11:36:36 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 21: After shamelessly abandoning pro-Jammu agenda to enjoy power with PDP for three and half years, BJP is now facing questions from the people of Jammu. With campaign for Lok Sabha elections has started, people are asking BJP leaders about holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Where-ever BJP leaders are addressing rallies and claiming to project interests of the people of Jammu region, common people are asking questions "What is the status of the resolution passed in the J&K Legislative Council to declare holiday on birth anniversary of last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh?
There is feeling among people of Jammu that BJP leadership had humiliated them by succumbing before PDP to remain in power.
With campaign for Lok Sabha elections picking up social media is flooded with anti-BJP posts especially targeting Saffron Party for 'appeasing' radical groups of Kashmir Valley.
After massive demonstrations on September 23, 2017 in favour of declaring holiday on September 23, the then Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh had publicly announced that holiday would be declared state holidays' Calendar of the year 2018 but no action was taken.
J&K Legislative Council had unanimously passed a 'historical' resolution on January 24, 2017 to declare state holiday the birthday of Hari Singh.
On the very next day after passing of the resolution BJP was quick to take political mileage as the resolution was moved by its member Ajatshatru Singh, who happened to be the grandson of Hari Singh.
Accusing the BJP of having betrayed the collective sentiment of Dogras, people on social media are asking to teach a lesson to those who have failed to honour their promise of holiday on 23rd September, birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh or even rake up the issue in cabinet meeting while in power, could no longer be trusted by the people.
