Jammu, Mar 23: A convention on the issue of 'unemployment' was held at Jammu today under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association. The convention was organized by NZIEA Srinagar Division in the leadership of Com. Pawan Gupta and Com. A.M. Tantray, Divisional Secretary and Divisional President of the Association respectively.Com. A.K.Bhatnagar, President NZIEA from Delhi was the chief guest while Raqeeq Ahmed Khan State President, NSUI, and Com. Om Parkash general secretary CITU J&K were the special guests on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Com. Bhatnagar said that during rule of this NDA Govt., the rate of unemployment has gone to the highest at 7.2% in the last forty five years; and in case of youth, this rate is nearly 16%.The reason behind this is the demonetization move of the Govt.and also the implementation of GST in haste without proper preparations. In 2020, the average age of an Indian will be 29 years and the increasing rate of unemployment is going to be a big challenge for the youth of the country. As per report of 'Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy', more than one crore people have lost their jobs in the last years. So this jobloss has been a big concern and it has been leading to suicides by many youths of the country. He said that total number of employees in the central government dipped to 32.53 lakhs in 2017 from 33.28 lakhs in 2014, a loss of 75000 jobs. In over 330 central public sector enterprises which employed 16.91 lakh persons in 2014,the 2017 figure is15.24 lakh,a loss of 1.67 lakh jobs.
