| Doda Medical College to get 50 MBBS seats in first session | | |

JAMMU, May 10: Keeping in view of deficiencies and incomplete infrastructure, the Government Medical College Doda is likely to get only 50 MBBS seats in the first season. Moreover, the concerned authority of the college had also applied only for 50 seats.
With the MCI finishing off final site inspections of the New Medical Colleges, the team expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and human resource at the colleges except Doda College to allow the intake of the first batch.
Desertification with work progress of Doda Medical College, the Principal of above said college had called in Delhi head office where a meeting took place between members of MCI and the principal. As per reports, the officials of the MCI expressed its dissatisfaction with the progress of work. The infrastructure was far from complete and it will take time to get ready.
Reports further added that during the meeting MCI had expressed its unwillingness to give approval for the first batch of MBBS at this college this year. But higher officials of the Health and Medical Education Department have intervened in the matter and sought approval for 50 seats in a make-shift building just to save their nose.
Here need to mention that various dailies highlighted the callous approach of the department towards the functioning of new medical college as result may be GMC Doda will not get seats. |
