Training module on Rock Climbing concludes

Kathua, May 11: A three day training module on Rock Climbing and varied allied activities was organized for officers, staff and trainees of 26TH BRTC which concluded on Saturday. The training module was organized on the initiative of Arun Gupta, SSP (JKPS) Principal SPS PTS Kathua in collaboration with P K Negi CO 47th Bn ITBP. The event aimed at introducing rock climbing as well as inculcate adventurous aptitude among the trainees. The rock climbing and related techniques were demonstrated by Jatinder Tiwari AC 47th Bn. ITBP and his team of trainers. The training module enabled the trainees to get introduced to various mountaineering equipments and learn various aspects of climbing like the techniques used by climbers to ascend a rope, sliding and rappelling. Live demonstrations of how to tie knots, knotted climbing, seat rappelling, free fall, stomach rappel and hasty rappel were given by the trainers in which the trainees also participated enthusiastically. The rock climbing drills were performed in SPS PTS Kathua for the first time for BRTC trainees. The demonstration was held with all safety measures in place. The resource trainers were felicitated with token of gratitude by the Principal and staff members. On the conclusion of training module, the Principal thanked the Commandant 47 Bn ITBP and resource trainers who accepted the request and took keen interest in organizing the training module to achieve one of the training goals.
