Workshop on Juvenile Justice Act held at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR May 28: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana today chaired a workshop to discuss the effective implementation of Juvenile Justice Act in the district.
The workshop was attended by Principal Magistrate JJB, Sudhir Khajuria, SSP Kishtwar, Shakti Kumar Pathak, Chairperson CWC, Mohal Lal Thakur, ACD Kishtwar, Anil Kumar Chandail, DCPO Kishtwar, Tariq Parvez Qazi, ALC Kishtwar, CMO , DYSSO Kishtwar, CPO, Superintendent Bal Ashram and District jail, members of the CWC, JJB , Social workers, representatives of District Child Protection Units and Child care institutions.
The Workshop was held to aware the stakeholders about child's rights, role of administration and society towards child in need of care and protection, children in conflict with law besides role and responsibility of civil society towards child protection.
During the discussion, the DDC briefed the participants about their role as enshrined under Juvenile Justice System.
He emphasized upon the social and Non- Governmental organisations to work in close coordination with the government agencies for proper rehabilitation of the children in need of care and protection and child in conflict with law.
Principal Magistrate impressed upon the officers to play an active role in running the JJ system and said that there is dire need for coordination so that CPS is smoothly implemented at the ground level.
SSP Kishtwar asked the participants to make holistic and continuous efforts to ensure wholesome development of such children to enable them to lead a dignified life.
"The government, civil society and NGOs have to work together for the betterment of the children and society as whole," Principal Magistrate added.
District Child Protection Officer, Tariq Parvez Qazi informed about the status of work done in the district.
CWC Chairperson, Mohan Lal Thakur threw light on the guidelines and Juvenile Justice Act and the role of the government and NGOs towards the cause.
ACD, Anil Kumar Chandail, CMO Dr. Abdul Majeed , and Protection Officer (NIC) Touseef Iqbal Butt also spoke on the subject.
Project Office NIC, informed that they have constituted Village Level Child Protection Committees and Block Level Child Protection Committees for better delivery of the child protection services.
