PDP under stress in Chadoora, Charar -e-Sharief

Early Times Report
srinagar, May 28: Once considered to be relatively a stronghold of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party is in severe leadership crisis in central Kashmir's Budgam district after having lost miserably in all the four Assembly segments of the district during recently concluded lok sabha elections. Party workers in Chadoora and Charar e Sharief are said to be switching their allegiance towards National Conference in many areas.
Details available with Early Times reveal that PDP Budgam district unit is in terrible crisis like South Kashmir, as two constituencies of Charar e Sharief and Chadoora have not even given a lead to the party in recently concluded parliament elections. Pertinently both these Assembly segments were represented by two cabinet Ministers Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura and Javid Mustaffa Mir in the PDP-BJP Government. Ironically Javid Mustaffa Mir has already resigned from the party and joined Shah Faesal's J&K Peoples Movement. In Charar-e-Sharief PDP has gone through a mega disaster as party has been able to secure mere 6821 votes while as National Conference whose leader Abdul Rahim Rather had lost 2014 Assembly elections against PDP leader Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura has secured around 18000 votes inspite of election boycott in many villages of Charar e Sharief. In Chadoora PDP secured mere 1400 votes, while as NC managed to get more than 5300 votes. Ironically PDP in Chadoora stood at number 3rd as Peoples Conference managed to get 1739 votes thus securing 2nd position.
Sources say that in Chadoora Assembly segment PDP has not been able to find a suitable candidate after Javid Mir's resignation. Party is right now banking upon one Mohammad Yasin who is basically a land broker and lacks political acumen as well. Sources in Chadoora say that Yasin has not a good public rapport as he is new in politics and people have no option other than relying on NC's Ali Mohammad Dar who was MLA of Chadoora from 1996 to 2002 and was elected as MLC under panchayat quota from 2011 to 2017. This was authenticated by fact that Dar managed to get 5323 votes inspite of the fact that mere 6% to 7 % people cast votes in Chadoora during recent Lok Sabha elections.
In Charar e Sharief Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura also has lost public trust and credibility. People of the area allege that he could not do any public work and even his own party workers have been annoyed with him. Party workers have been showing their allegiance to another PDP leader of area Er Nazir Ahmad Yatoo, who now seems fed up with politics as party high command has not been able to empower him as per his stature. Sources say that it was Yatoo who managed Hanjura's victory but soon after Hanjura won the elections, his son attacked and abused him (Yatoo) in a broad day light and for 3 years Yatoo was not even in talking terms with Hanjura. Sources further say that Hanjura's son Gowhar Lone an inexperienced person was directly interfering in the constituency affairs and managed transfers and postings of officers in the constituency plus in Agriculture department as Hanjura held the charge of said department from 2015 to 2017. DPD workers in Charar e Sharief are switching over to NC as their is no alternative in PDP.
Some party workers of PDP told Early Times that if Yatoo is given party ticket in upcoming elections he might get good number of votes but still NC's A R Rather will manage to win elections, but if his son Hilal Ahmad Rather is given the party mandate to contest elections in that case people would prefer Nazir Ahmad Yatoo.
