MJR-47 criticizes State Government decision on reservation
5/28/2019 10:43:33 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 28: Movement for Justice for Refugee of 1947 from POJK (MJR 47) has expressed resentment against the decision of state government to substitute new paragraph to Clause III of Rule 21 of J&K Reservation rules whereas all Kashmiri Migrants have become entitled to reservation benefits of backwards area, LOC/IB in Govt. Jobs, Educational Institution etc. even if they have migrated outside the division or even the state and living in even Metro Cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangluru or any other part of the country even doing business or any employment.
In its Executive Body meeting the members observed, but such benefits are not extended to POJK 1947 DPs who have actually been living all along LOC and IB since 1947 where they were made to seek refuse after being thrown out of their homes in Tribal Raid after the partition in 1947 and are still waiting their rehabilitation.
Most of the DPs families are living along with LOC and IB border from Poonch to Kathua and facing the brunt of frequent firing from Pakistan resulting some time causalities and killing of their livestock. Even they cannot undertake agriculture activities in their land causing economic losses every year but are deprived of legitimate benefits as available to migrants due to mere Divisional migration only.
POJK 1947 DPs are crying for last 7 decades and at last some recommendations had been made by the state govt. and Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs in 2014.
"Our file for reservation to wards of DPs of 1947 in Engineering and Higher Study Institutions in the country is lying pending in HRD Ministry for the last 5 years and even the financial relief of Rs 30 lacs per family recommended by the Parliamentary Standing Committee has been reduced to Rs 5.5 lacs by the BJP-PDP Govt", they said, adding, "How come govt. is always so generous to one particular class and ignore the other who are more deserving. Is it not injustice and gross violation of basic principal of equalities and justice for all as guaranteed in our sacred constitution?
It may also be pointed out that we are demanding persistently for de-freezing eight assembly seats in proportion to the population of DPs of POJK living in this part of the state since their exodus in 1947. This alone will enable the DPs to raise their legitimate issues in state assembly and get those resolved.
"We strongly warn the state govt. not to create class within the class and category within the category by allowing one section all benefits and ignoring others who are most aggrieved and sufferers. They are true nationalist don't force them to come to roads for their rights to have justice", they said, and demanded from Governor to resolve issues of DPs 1947 lying pending before him and not to create more discrimination. DPs of 1947 too may be given all those facilities and benefits as are given to valley migrants.
