| People resent suspension of SRTC bus service | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, June 14: The people of Poonch has taken a strong note over the stopping of SRTC bus service from Poonch to Srinagar via Mughal Road this year which was started last year to facilitate the general public of Poonch District.
A deputation of general public met former MLC Dr. Shehnaz Ganai in this regard and apprised her of the difficulties faced by the public to travel up to Srinagar in absence of this service as it was economical for less privileged people. The deputation briefed her that mostly general public used this mode of transport while going for their medical and health check up at SKIMS or for pilgrimage tour to Sufi saints of valley as it is cheaper than the other private transport services. People showed their grave concern over the illogic stoppage of SRTC service from Poonch while the service from District Rajouri is regularly plying. After listening to the issues of the deputation, Dr. Ganai straightway talked telephonically to the Commissioner Secretary Transport and complained about this unjustified stoppage of SRTC service to Poonch. The said commissioner while showing his positivity over the issue assured Dr. Shehnaz Ganai for the early continuation of this service. Former MLC also put forward a suggestion of starting of new SRTC bus services at local levels in Pir Panjaal region to facilitate the general public. The commissioner secretary while appreciating this suggestion of Dr. Ganai also assured her to take necessary steps over this suggestion. |
