Poonch, June 15: Mohd Sajid Awan and Mohd Shahid Awan, hailing from village Kalai have brought laurels to district Poonch in general and Kalai village in particular by cracking the prestigious IIT-JEE examination, the results of which were declared by the JEE board, yesterday.
Sons of a retired subedar Mohd Ishaq Awan, the duo were inspired by a series of successes from village Kalai in the IIT-JEE exam in recent years. Presently residing at Gulpur Poonch, the duo did their schooling from Poonch.
Relatives, teachers and other well wishers have complimented the parents and lauded the outstanding performance of duo in one of the most difficult examinations in the world.
Pertinently, youngsters in Kalai village have developed a unique interest in the IIT-JEE exam and dozen of them, associated with the village, have made their way into top IITs. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an engineering entrance examination conducted for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology. JEE Advanced is regarded internationally as one of the most challenging undergraduate admission tests. |
