Early Times Report

Kishtwar, June 19: In a significant development in once militancy dominated area of Keshwan belt in Kishtwar, after the massive uproar by the people over surfacing of a video of two local youths, Javed Ahmed Hajjam and Ghulam Nabi Wani alias Tunda holding weapons, both militants were purportedly captured alive by the police on Tuesday.
After the video surfaced, there was anger among the general public who threatened protest in case police and army fail to capture the two militants, as both were threatening peace and stability in the area that has witnessesed mass scale extortion, torture to people and threat perception during the 1990s. The area became militancy-free in 2011 with the elimination of dreaded LeT terrorist commander Habib Gujjar.
As per the details available with Early Times, having bitter experience, the people of the area who are now spending their lives in peace after various hard steps were taken by the security forces to make the area free of militancy took the initiative in their own hands and helped the police and security forces to arrest both the militants who wanted to float a fresh group in the area.
After hectic efforts and active support of the masses, both militants, according to sources, were captured alive by the police at around 11 pm on Tuesday.
After capturing the duo, the people have taken a sigh of relief and have urged the police and army to take effective steps to capture another local youth Jamal Din who had already floated a new group in the area operating between Keshwan heights and Doda district heights.
All this shows that after bleeding Kashmir, militants are establishing strong base in Kishtwar due to soft approach of Jammu and Kashmir police towards the terror sympathizers. The police even failed to initiate action against the pro-Pakistan lobby including a lecturer who was found involved in posting anti-national, pro-Pakistan and anti-army posts on Facebook.
