Budget 2019 is a nightmare for common people: Manohar Lal
7/6/2019 11:02:43 PM
Early Times Report
Kathua, July 6: Former Minister and President DCC Kathua Dr. Manohar lal Sharma said that budget 2019 presented by FM is a nightmare for the common people who are suffering. He said the government is selling dreams, not delivering. He said first Budget of NDA govt's second term is directionless, purposeless and is disappointing. There is no concrete plan or solution to accelerate the growth of the economy, to create jobs or to increase the flow of investment. Presently unemployment is major problem of India and in this budget government has said nothing on job creation thus once again betraying the youths of the country. Also Gaon, Gareeb and Kisaan mentioned as mere slogans without any concrete schemes to deal with farmers distress.
Further he said middle class failed to get any tax relief and with hike in custom duty on fuel will lead to petrol and diesel prices rise, which will directly leads to a rise in inflation as prices of all essential commodities rise, pushed by a higher cost of transport. So, while producers may benefit from the higher costs of items, consumers and the middle class will continue to have to work within a relatively tight budget of their own. Dr Sharma further said that no mention of agriculture in budget speech shows govt is not at all serious about improving conditions in the rural sector. Without clarity on the action plan, Budget2019 seems hollow and fails to give hope to poor, labourers or farmers. Mentioning further he lambasted finance minister by saying that this the first of its kind of budgetwhich does not disclose the total revenue, total expenditure, fiscal deficit, revenue deficit, additional revenue mobilization or financial concessions. Also budget hasn'tdisclosed allocations to important programs like MNREGA, mid-day scheme meals, healthcare etc. At last Manohar said." Farmers should prosper, poor should lead a life of dignity, the middle class should get their due, Youths should get employment but Budget 2019 failed to provide answers on these burning issues and how to improve conditions of various sections of society.
