7/8/2019 11:15:06 PM
Early Times Report

PAHALGAM, July 8: Amit Sharma, Camp Director, Nunwan Base Camp of Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 2019 today organized a demo workshop of Food Safety Department in Nunwan Base Camp at Pahalgam during ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra in which a detailed presentation was given by Food Safety Officers including Dr Farooq Ahmed Mir and others who visited all Langars including various Food Preparation Workshops inside Base Camp located at Pahalgam.
As per directions given by Camp Director in this behalf during routine evening briefing, J&K Food Safety Department organized a Workshop to give demonstration about adoption of hygiene and quality while maintaining basic standards during preparation of meals for pilgrims who visit for Shri Amarnathji Yatra here at the Base Camp. They brought their FSSAI Van wherein Food Safety Standards underwent live testing for food being prepared in Langars.
Afterwards, Amit addressed all these Langar Heads and related public wherein he guided them about the role of FSSAI team which has been on its maiden job to Amarnathji Yatra Camps this year so as to ensure proper maintenance of standards of meals in all Langars and Camps of Yatra.
Amit assured that there is no negativity in deploying Food Safety Teams in these Camps but this is just a positive move so as to ensure that all Amarnathji Yatries get proper hygienic food as per the standards prescribed by Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. He also mentioned that a proper list of Do's and Don'ts has already been handed over to all Langarwalas so that it is ensured that the pilgrims who climb up the hills while going to Holy Cave which above 13,000 get food & snacks which are commensurate with the cold weather conditions prevailing in these hilly terrains and especially keeping into mind, the background of most of the Yatries who come from the plains of India.
Before the culmination of this Workshop at Nunwan Base Camp located at Pahalgam, the Langarwalas and pilgrims highly complimented the proactive approach of Camp Director and his team for taking these innovative steps which has created awareness about Food Safety amongst all the related stakeholders and they assured that they stood committed towards maintaining proper standards and total cleanliness within and outside the Langars as per directions of SASB and Camp Director.
