Narrow escape for marriage party in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, July 8: A major tragedy was averted on Monday after a Cruiser vehicle skidded off the road on Horna-Drubeel road and turned turtle, leaving five persons injured.
The overloaded vehicle, according to the locals, was carrying the members of a marriage party when the incident took place. Following the accident, the local people immediately rush to the spot and recovered the injured persons from the vehicle. After receiving the first aid treatment at nearby health center, all the injured persons were allowed to go to home. Police has registered an FIR in this regard.
Meanwhile, overloading is continuing on various routes of Kishtwar. A Tata Sumo bearing Registration No. JK17-4104 plying on Kishtwar-Dangduru road has been found overloaded and the passengers in photographs taken by a whistleblower could be seen hanging from the doors of the vehicle.
These photographs of the vehicle have been shared with the officials of the district's police and civil administration who assured action.
In another incicent, the people of Keshwan area held a strong protest in support of their demand for better roads, heath care and introduction of SRTC buses in the area. 35 people lost their lives in Keshwan incident last week.
The people blocked Kishtwar-Chatroo-Srinagar National Highway at Dadpath for nearly four hours as a result of which the people traveling on this road had to face inconvenience. Later, senior officials rushed to the spot and talked to agitating people.
At Hasti, students of various schools blocked Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway demanding introduction of special SRTC buses to ferry the students. They said that the transporters do not allow them to board the vehicles due to half fare fixed by the government for students. They said that due to indifferent attitude of transporters, they fail to reach the scho0ol on time.
