| 9,541 pilgrims pay obeisance at the Holy Cave | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 9: On the 9th day of the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 9,541 Yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave. Till date 1,21,196 Yatris had the darshan of the Holy Shivling.
Two critically ill Yatris were also evacuated by Helicopter today from Panjtarni. One Yatri, Ms. Radha Devi was brought to the Baltal Base Hospital and another Sh. Ramesh Kakde was shifted to the SKIMS, Srinagar for specialized treatment.
In all 9 critically sick Yatris have been air evacuated by the Shrine Board for immediate specialized treatment.
Amarnath pilgrim injured
as rock hits his vehicle
Ramban: A pilgrim on way to Amarnath cave shrine was injured Tuesday when a large rock hit the vehicle he was travelling in on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district, officials said.
A Tavera vehicle, which was part of a cavalcade carrying a batch of pilgrims to twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal, was hit after the rock rolled down from a hill top, they said.
The injured was has been hospitalised, the officials said.

Jammu: After a day-long suspension due to law and order reasons, the Amarnath Yatra resumed from Jammu as pilgrims were allowed to move on Tuesday. A fresh batch of 5,964 pilgrims left Jammu base camp to pay obeisance at 3,880 metre high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, officials said.
The Amarnath yatra was suspended on Monday as a precautionary measure following a strike called by separatists in the Kashmir valley to mark the third death anniversary of former Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
The 46-day yatra, which started from the twin tracks of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district on 1 July, crossed the one-lakh-mark on Monday.
According to reports, till date, about 1,11,699 pilgrims have performed the ongoing Yatra. This year's 45-day long Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave shrine started on 1 July and will end on 15 August, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima festival.
The annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. Pilgrims can approach the cave shrine either from the Baltal base camp using the shorter 14-km long uphill trek or from the traditional Pahalgam base camp using the 42-km long uphill trek.
The arrangements put into place for pilgrims has been extremely exhaustive with special focus on security arrangements. While the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police is primarily in-charge for security, personnel from the Indian Army and Border Security Force have also been deployed on the two routes.
Braving rains which lashed wide parts of Jammu, the ninth batch of 5,964 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in a fleet of 254 vehicles under tight security cover early Tuesday. The batch will reach the Valley later in the day, the officials said. |
