7/20/2019 10:38:10 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 20: KPC in a meeting at Delhi stated that recent tragic incident of boat capsize in a river Pahalgam, Kashmir which caused death of Rinkoo Raj Pandita an employee of tourism department, on duty, is shocking for everyone, in particular to Kahmiri Pandit community . The uprooted family of the deceased Rinkoo Raj Pandita, only son and protection to his old parents presently in great shock want to know from the concerned authorities and management that why so laxity was in their job on the day of incident. Why not proper instructions were given to deceased employee before permitting him to board on raft boats who was not having proper life saving mechanism with him.
The state administration, no doubt, has ordered an inquiry in the matter so that real and exact cause and circumstances of the incident come out and victim family is also awaiting very eagerly for the same, but from the last fortnight nothing has been heard in this regard. Earlier also there was similar nature of rafting incident in which unfortunately one tourist guide namely Rouf Ahamed Dar has lost his life, reportedly, while saving the life of some tourists and his bravery efforts were praised by everyone in the state including politicians, officers and others and his name was recommended for bravery award by the concerned district authorities and for proper compensation was given, but unfortunately the similar nature of second incident in which late Rinku Raj Pandita and one rafter Sanjana got killed has not been taken seriously from any quarters and a meagre compensation of Rs 2 lakh was granted in this case. KPC president Kundan Kashmiri appealed the state and centre for compensation/ ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh and benefits to the family of Pandita.
