Lady 'fraudster' denied bail
7/20/2019 10:38:21 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 20: A local court on Saturday rejected the bail application of an alleged fraudster Sonia Gupta.
According to the prosecution, one Raj Kumar Bajaj lodged a report with police station Janipur, Jammu, saying he took a policy from ICICI Pro Life Insurance Company on 21.11.2017 in his name and accordingly premium was also paid. He transferred payment to the company through bank and total of 24,70,450 was transferred on regular basis. Bajaj alleged that the accused received by way of transfer about Rs 25 lakh from him on the false assurance of insurance company. On this report police registered FIR No. 41/2019 u/s 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 RPC.
Sub-Judge Jammu, Pawan Kumar Sharma, after hearing Sr. PO Puja Nijhon appearing for the State observed that Sr.P.O has opposed the application strongly and contended that the investigation is at preliminary stage and applicant is just one person arrested in the case and many other are yet to be arrested who are involved in the case and the applicant is resident of Delhi and may not be available for investigation and trial if released on bail.
"The money from the complainant was his pension and retirement benefits. It appears to me that an innocent retired employee has been trapped by the accused and her other companions," the court said while rejecting the bail application.
