Early Times Report

Jammu, July 20: Though rains in the last few days provided some relief from the sweltering sun but there is no respite for over a dozen families of Narwal Pain-Satwari, who have been without water-supply for the last over fortnight.
Despite repeated appeals to the authorities and phone calls to the concerned Junior Assistant Engineer, there is no let-up in the water woes of the residents.
Residents of Narwal-Paine Ward no. 2, Satwari Tony, Sonu, Sahil, Mohammad Latief, Ruksana, Shabnam, Shaina, Salman, Sunita inform Early Times that their houses are at the end of the locality as well as the water supply line.
"The water pressure in the supply pipe is very low due to which, whenever water supply is released the initial households get good supply but the peak end households are getting no supply", the residents said, adding that in the summer season, they have not been getting enough water for drinking.
The people further claimed that they have not been getting water for washing clothes, taking bathe etc. "We have been begging for drinking water from neighbourers but everyday one cannot demand water from even neighbourers", they said, adding that their houses were at the peak end and even water-tanker could not be used to bring water. The people further claim that during last Eid, they had been facing same problem of water scarcity and again Eid festival is coming and the problem is alike.
"We repeatedly called to Junior Assistant Engineer (JAE), who is either not picking up the phone or fail to address the problem", the residents said.
Executive Engineer of PHE Jammu Division-II JP Singh said that he would look into the matter and took appropriate action in this regard.
