Azad's statement a blot on integrity of people of UT: Raman Suri
8/8/2019 9:21:14 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 8: Condemning statement of former Chief Minister and leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad that with money one can get anyone along (Paise dekar aap kisi ko bhi saath le sakte ho) , BJP state executive member Raman Suri today said that this is a blot on the integrity of people of freshly carved out Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that need of hour is to win confidence of people, make them understand the benefits of UT and also make them understand how nation stands for socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir. Asking Congress to act responsibly and not exploit sentiments of people, Raman Suri said that efforts of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval to get the pulse of people should be appreciated. He said that leaders like Azad owe a lot to people of Jammu and Kashmir and must act responsibly at this hour. It will take time for this development to sink in amongst people's hearts and accusing people of Kashmir of taking money for such positive gestures of restoring peace is highly condemnable.
Appreciating statement of another Congress stalwart and former Sadr-e-Riyasat Dr. Karan Singh that decision of NDA government cannot be condemned outrightly and granting UT status to Ladakh was a welcome step, Raman Suri said that this divided opinion of Congress speaks of the fact that the party is itself not clear whether to appreciate abrogation of Article 370 or not. He asked Congress stalwarts to cooperate in restoring peace and unlike past, stop exploiting sentiments of people.
The BJP leader added, "now that J&K state is a UT people must understand that first positive sign is that, it still has legislature. Secondly it being a UT will have all the economic and infrastructural benefits. Thirdly, people of Jammu and Kashmir who until now were studying or seeking medical aid outside in others states can welcome those very institutions and hospitals with open hands to establish themselves here to serve people. In a way, better opportunities are awaiting people of UT", he added. The Congress leaders and likes must try to convince people and make them aware how the UT is going to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a new economic hub where investors from private as well as governments of all other states will be investing heavily and generating enough employment for our children.
