Ajit Doval's Kashmir visit sets historic standards on national security
First NSA to have travelled by road in militancy infested areas

Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Aug 8: The National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval's visit to curfew bound Kashmir has set historic standards on national security and how to manage a trouble-torn region with zero fatalities when bold decisions are taken by the government.
While the abrogation of the Articles 370 and 35A are seen among the boldest decisions any government would take to resolve Kashmir issue, keeping the restive valley calm was supposed to be an even bigger challenge.
But the central government has managed to ensure calm through what is often called Doval Doctrine. The NSA who had previously also visited Kashmir ahead of the abrogation of Articles 35 A and 370 had managed a fool-proof plan to let the Modi government achieve its goal.
Doval's plan has proved so big a success that barring isolated incidents of roadside protests Kashmir has been reported from anywhere across the valley.
Sources said the security agencies were of the opinion that during his recent visit to Kashmir, Doval would travel by helicopter from one place to another.
"But what remained most surprising was that he didn't even use a helicopter to travel to Shopian and instead travelled by road to personally get on the spot assessment of ground situation," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said during his travel to the militancy infested district, Doval took halt at multiple places to interact with the people and security forces. Apart from assuring the people of corruption-free and good governance, Doval is understood to have directed the security establishment to ensure that no civilian fatalities take place anywhere in the region.
It was reliably learnt that Doval has asked the security grid comprising Army, Para-military Forces and the Jammu & Kashmir Police to give relaxation for free public movement in the wake of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Observers said by ensuring calm in Kashmir after such a bold decision, Doval has yet again proved that he is one of the finest spy-masters ever produced by the country.
