Team Jammu lambastes State Govt for failure to notify EWS Reservation rules
8/28/2019 10:55:36 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 28: Expressing serious concern over the failure of State Government to notify the rules for quota to the Economically Weaker Section candidates in Jammu and Kashmir, Team Jammu has demanded immediate necessary action in this regard so that deserving candidates may get reservation benefit.
"Even after passage of the law extending 10 percent reservation to Economically Weaker Sections in Jammu and Kashmir, the State Government has not so far notified rules of the same with the result that deserving candidates under economically weaker section category are being deprived of the much awaited reservation benefit," said Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Chairman of Team Jammu while holding meeting with aspirants and their parents at its headquarters here today.
Particularly pointing out that Counseling of the NEET qualified candidates for admission to MBBS in various Medical Colleges of the State was finished without extending benefit of EWS reservation; Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that around 100 reserved seats under the said category were still lying vacant.
State Government must take up the matter for ensuring that these vacant seats are filled up by the deserving candidates, he added.
The Team Jammu chief further explained that in absence of the necessary Rules, the State Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), which conducted counseling for MBBS and BDS admissions, has refused to consider any candidate under Economically Weaker Section category even as the Medical Council of India has increased 10 percent seats in the Medical and Dental colleges across the State. "The State administration is solely responsible for this loss to youth of the State, who are already facing tough competition and lesser opportunities in their professional career here in Jammu and Kashmir," said Zorawar Singh Jamwal and appealed the Governor Satya Pal Malik for his personal intervention into the matter to get the rules notified and ensure that vacant MBBS seats are filled up by EWS candidates.
"The timely intervention of hon'ble Governor in to the matter would definitely help deserving candidates in making their career besides contributing to the society in the field of health care," he said.
Among others who were present during the meeting included Surinder Sharma, Chandan Datta, Sanjay Verma, Sunil Gupta, Akshay Gupta, Raju Sharma, Arun Jojra, Bobby Singh, Badal Sharma, Sameer Gupta and Ashok Kumar.
