8/29/2019 12:01:20 PM
Mobile phone services have been restored in five districts of Jammu division -- Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch.

Mobile phone services snapped across Jammu and Kashmir since August 5 resumed in five districts of Jammu region - Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch, tweeted news agencies on Thursday
The mobile phone services were snapped across Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 after the abrogation of Article 370. The 2G mobile internet services were earlier restored in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi districts, officials said.

Jammu and Kashmir was placed under a total clampdown on August 5, hours before the Centre's move to abrogate provisions of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Telephone line services, including mobile phones and landlines, were also suspended across the state.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday justified the imposition of severe restrictions after the Centre abrogated provisions of Article 370, saying it was done to prevent any loss of life.

In his first press conference after the Centre announced its decision to abrogate Jammu and Kashmir's special status and divide the state into two Union Territories, the governor assured the people of the state that their identity and culture would be preserved.

The governor also indicated that internet services will continue to remain suspended for some more time as it was "more used by terrorists and Pakistanis" than the people of the state.
