Kathua, Sept 1: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer today participated in Shramdaan(voluntary contribution of labor for public cause) under Swachta Hi Sewa (Cleanliness is Service) campaign here at Budhi Panchayat of Kathua.
"Cleanliness and hygiene are important aspects of everyone`s life so it is important that the campaign shall ensure people`s representation at the grassroots level i.e. at the village, block and district level," the DDC asserted.
The DDC also called for holding regular information, education and communication activities to spread awareness among all stakeholders about the personal hygiene and cleanliness in the surroundings. Besides, he underscores the role of Sarpanchs and Panchs in propagating the importance of hygiene among villagers.
DDC further stressed that Panchayats should also devise ways for proper disposal of solid and liquid wastes. He also advised the shopkeepers to use dustbins for disposal of their waste.
Cleanliness will not only make your surroundings beautiful but it also protect from dangerous diseases which spreads due to unhygienic conditions, DDC said.
The cleanliness activities were carried at ground, pond, Panchayat Ghar, Govt. Middle School and Market area of Budhi.
Later, Plantation drive was also carried at Panchayat Ghar.
ADC, Ghanshyam Singh, ACR, Devinder Paul, ACD, Sukhpaul Singh, CMO, Dr. Ashok Choudhary, CEO, Prem Nath, CHO, DFO, Tehsildar, BDO, other District Ofiicers and Panchs, Sarpanchs in large numbers participated in this campaign. |
