DIG Sujit Kumar delivers lecture on drugs awareness

Katra, Sept 13: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Udhampur Reasi Range Sujit Kumar delivered a lecture at SMVD University Kakryal, Katra in the Matrika Auditorium on the growing menace of drugs in the state.
The students were sensitized about the current challenge, they were briefed about the drugs its types, why and who do youth falls in this trap, myths and facts about the drug abuses, impact of drug abuse on individual, society nation, physical signs of drug abuser, sufferer of this menace, prevention methods, role of institutions and role of Police.
The students were also briefed to join hands of J&K Police in fighting Narco Terrorism which is bigger challenge then fighting militancy. They were also briefed to stay away from all kinds of drugs and other intoxication and give their best in their respective studies and contribute for their overall welfare, welfare of family, friends and development of state and nation as a whole.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha, Registrar V K Bhat, Prof. Youghal Khajuria and other faculty members were also present during the session. V.C Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha also spoke on the occasion. ASP Katra Naresh Singh, SDPO Katra Vivek Shekhar, also spoke on the topic and briefed them about the action taken against drug peddlers and current trends of drugs in Katra and Reasi District. The prorgamme ended with the vote of thanks from Prof. Sumit Kumar.
