KATHUA, Sept 26: A high voltage drama was witnessed on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Lakhanpur near here on Thursday afternoon. The drama unfolded when a team of Punjab Police led by SHO Sujanpur entered Lakhanpur in the filmy style without informing the Police Station Lakhanpur about the motive of the visit. Not only that the team of Punjab Police carried away 8 bags of poppy straw (bhukki) from a truck under the jurisdiction of Lakhanpur Police Station towards Punjab in a private car. On reaching Golden Gate at Lakhanpur, the SHO Sujanpur, along with his team started searching the truck which was parked there. The Punjab Police after recovering 8 bags of poppy straw from the truck unloaded and took them away towards Punjab in a white car. When the media persons reached the spot and captured the entire incident on camera wherein he himself caught loading the bags of poppy straw. Following this, the SHO Sujanpur and his team fled from the spot on a car. Later, SHO Lakhanpur Bharat Sharma and DySP Dr KD Bhagat reached the spot and seized the truck. But by then the eight bags of poppy straw had been taken away to Punjab.
Meanwhile, after the intervention of the high-ranking police officers of both the states, the matter is resolved, after that the eight bags of poppy straw were sent to the Lakhanpur police station by the Punjab Police.
