PYC protests hike in road tax; asks BJP to clear stance on MV Act
9/26/2019 11:34:52 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 26: Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC), J&K, staged protest against J&K Government for raising the road tax to nine per cent of the cost of vehicle, asking State BJP leadership to clear its stand over this issue.
Led by Uday Chib, State President PYC, the activists assembled near office of Regional Transport Officer, Jammu, and raised slogans against the BJP Government. Pertinent to mention here that J&K government had issued a SRO in which the road tax on purchase of new vehicles has been increased to 9 per cent of the cost of vehicle. Talking to reporters here, Chib said that the steep hike in one-time tax is ultimately going to be paid out of the pockets of a common man. He said that on one hand the State Government is hike one-time tax on purchase of new vehicle on the other hand its planning to install more toll posts near Hiranagar and Vijaypur in the Jammu region. Targeting BJP Government's lack of preparation on New Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019, Chib said, "It is good that the number of vehicular accidents will reduce but the Central Government has implemented this law without any preparation. The new law is nothing but another way to harass common people and Congress will not be tolerated it any cost." Chib emphasized that the New MV Act was introduced by the BJP's Union Minister Nitin Gadkari but it's strange that BJP's ruled states like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana are not implementing the same act in letter and spirit. Chib asked the State BJP leadership to clear its stand over the new MV Act as till date no BJP leader from Jammu has issued any statement, as the BJP has got massive mandate from Jammu region. He urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to withdraw such anti-people act at the earliest failing which the Congress has no other option to come on road in support of common masses. Among those who joined the protest include Jatinder Chib Block President Congress , Ajaz Choudhary VP JKPYC, JKPYC General Secretaries Ricky Dalotra, Sahil Singh Langeh, Ranjeet Chopra , JKPYC Spokesperson Vishal Chopra and Sandeep Sharma , Secretaries Avijot Singh, Brinder Singh, DYC President Romi Sharma and Ibrar Choudhary, DYC VP President Baber Ali , Ranjoot Singh , DYC gen Secretaries Aman Sharma and abhishek. AYC Presidents Happy Randhawa, Anirudh Sawhney,Sunny Jatt, Romi.
