Relief Deptt hosts SBA awareness camp

Jammu, Sept 30: Relief and Rehabilitation Department (Migrant) today organized an awareness cum sensitization programme regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan(SBA) here at Jagti Township. Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation K.T Bhat was the chief guest. Deputy Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation V.K Dhar, Assistant Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation Pankaj Sharma, Students of Government Higher Secondary, Govt. Middle School, Sai Playway School along with staff and residents of Jagti Township were also present on the occasion.
A debate competition was held on the occasion in which the students threw light on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and highlighted the importance of cleanliness. Later, the students took out a swachata rally to create awareness among the people regarding Swachh Bharat Mission. In his address, Relief Commissioner emphasized on the need of personal and environmental hygiene and said that children are the brand ambassadors who will take this sanitation drive to the next level. He said that sanitation should be incorporated in our daily routine. He asked the participants to make masses aware not to throw the waste material on the streets, drains, water bodies, open spaces and also prohibit them from littering and open defecation. He said that there is need to generate maximum awareness among the common masses through awareness camps, rallies, painting and poster competitions and interactions to avoid single use plastic and contribute their bit in Swachh Bharat Mission.
