Terrorist Killed by Security Forces Three Days After Encounter Began in Ganderbal
10/1/2019 1:20:00 PM
Srinagar, October 1: Three days after an encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district, security forces neutralised one more terrorist on Tuesday. Following the encounter, security forces recovered weapons and warlike stores from slain terrorist's possession, news agency ANI reported. The identity of the terrorist was not immediately known. A cordon and search operation was underway to sanitize the area
Three Pakistani terrorists were gunned down by security forces on September 28 when the encounter began in the Naranag forest area. According to reports, these terrorists could have entered the Valley from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector. There had been ceasefire violations in the Gurez sector by Pakistani troops for the last couple of days with the aim to facilitate infiltration of terrorists
In another encounter which took place on September 28, three militants were killed by security forces in Thor village of Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district. The militants had entered a house and taken its inmates hostage, who were later rescued. A soldier lost his life and two policemen were injured in the gunfight. According to police, the slain terrorists belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen. Arms and ammunition were seized from them.

Following the encounter, the police had said that the militants infiltrated with an aim to revive militancy in the Chenab Valley. These were the gunfights that took place days after the Centre withdrew Jammu and Kashmir's special status under Article 370 and bifurcated the state into two union territories on August 5. Since then, Jammu and Kashmir has been under security lockdown and communication blackout.
