JAMMU, Oct 6: Taking cohesive measures towards crushing the terror network across the length and breadth of Kishtwar District, the Kishtwar police after coming down heavily on the terror operatives that remains active in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas has widen its probe against the people providing safe havens to the terrorists.
Police launched a massive hunt to track down the longest surviving Hizb militant commander Jahingir Saroori and his associate Riaz Ahmed alias Hajazi, resident of Renie Marwah, Mudassir Ahmed resident of Dachhan and other active militants presently operating in Kishtwar heights and areas adjoining to Doda district including one Haroon Abbass Wani, who is involved in killing of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma.
As per the details available with "Early Times," Kishtwar police detained several people from Marwah and Dachhan areas for questioning after their names surfaced in preliminary investigation that they are helping the Hizb militants by providing them the logistic support to the militants beside also help them financially. Among the detained persons are some employees while at the same time, after questioning, few of them were released.
Speaking exclusively to "Early Times", DySP HQ Kishtwar, Sunny Gupta, who is also investigating officer in RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma killing case as well as the fresh cases registered by Kishtwar police under Unlawful Act said that Noor Mohammad Malik who is close aide and right hand man of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani travelled to Assam along with slain militant Osama Javed for striking weapon deal which somehow didn't get through.
He said that Geelani aide who was arrested by the Kishtwar police along with local Imam Manzoor Ahmed Ganie alias Hafiz Sahib, who was involved in providing logistic support to the militants.
He said that Kishtwar police has so far identified seven terrorists involved in the killing of RSS leader and other terror related incidents in the district adding that among them six have already been arrested while one Rustum is absconding and all these will face trial in case FIR NO. 67/2019 registered in connection with killing of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma, his PSO and identified. Those who have been detained so far include Nissar Ahmed Sheikh, Azad Hussain, Nishad Ahmed, Mohammad Rafi Butt, Tariq Hussain Giri and Shabir Ahmed.
He said that beside these seven terrorists, 15 OGWs has been named in three different FIRs Registered at Police Station Kishtwar vide No 229, 230 & 232 under different clause of unlawful act adding that all the accused persons named in FIR No 230 and 232 while in FIR No 229 only one accused has been arrested while another accused is already in jail.
He said that other accused named in this FIR will also be arrested. He said that the investigation against the terror module operating in the district is still going on and said that more arrest in coming days cannot be ruled out.
