Normalcy In Kashmir
10/7/2019 9:27:42 PM
Omkar Dattatray

Kashmir is reeling under bandh and hartal for about two months from 5th August 2019. But this hartal and bandh is self imposed,. Ever since the dilution of article 370 which gave special position to erstwhile J&k state .The people of Kashmir have observed bandh ostensibly against the union government move of dilution of the most controversial article. In fact Kashmir is are observing hartal for the fear of the militants who have threatened the civilians and forced them to go on strike but if the people of Kashmir want to resume daily chorus the militants intimidation and threats will evaporate in thin air. Then there is the government which takes care of safety and security of the common people. So for as normalcy in Kashmir is concerned, there are differences of opinion among the different stay holders including the politicians. While the government both central and the state say that there is normalcy in Kashmir, the political leaders of the opposition particularly the congress is of the opinion that there is very sensitive and grim situation in Kashmir. The central and state administration say that since the abrogation of article 370 and bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories of J & K and Ladakh not a single bullet was fired and no life was lost. There is cent percent truth in this claim of the government. But Some two or three innocent lives were lost due to terrorist activities which should be condemned by one and all. It is very disturbing that the Kashmir valley is observing band at the behest of Pakistani and local terrorists from two months and this is the tragedy of Kashmir situation. Though the government claims normalcy but in the strict sense it cannot be termed as normalcy by any objective standard. There is communication restriction on mobile and internet connectivity. The land lines have been restored but the reality is that a very small number of people possess landline connections. Thus the people cannot communicate with their loved ones studying outside J&K. The situation resembles to communication blackout. It seems that kashmiris are living in 18th century. People are confined to indoors and markets present a deserted look and there is no hustle and bustle in Kashmir markets. Trade and industry as well as tourism is at a grinding halt and people associated with these activities are at great loss. The fruit growers also face enormous losses. But government came to their rescue and started market intervention scheme and credits money directly into the accounts of the people. People should come forward and take advantage of the schemes of the government. Government wants to hug every kashmiri as disclosed by none else than the Prime minister of India. Government should wipe tears from the eyes of ka Kashmiris who have suffered much including kashmiri Pandits. The article 370 and article 35A where obsolete and redundant and had outlived their utility and hence these where as good as dead and there is no need to repent on their annulment. Common kashmiri should cooperate with the government and usher in normalcy in Kashmir which is badly required today. People should not come into the machinations and trap of anti national elements and themselves take the initiative towards normalcy for their own benefits Rest the authorities are taking steps to normalize the volatile situation. Government is required to win the hearts and minds of the kashmiris .In doing so they should follow the doctrine of kashmiriyat, Insaniyat and Jamooriyat. Kashmiris should not be intimidated by the threats of the militants' and should come forward and work for peace and tranquility. No one from the heavens will come and deliver them peace. For their own good people should come forward and work with the government to bring normalcy. Normalcy cannot be purchased from anywhere but it has to ushered in for our own benefits. All governmental efforts should be supplemented by people for its success. The government is making sincere efforts for normalcy and now it is the peoples turn to initiate normalcy, otherwise posterity will not pardon us and will held us responsible for chaos and confusion. Education sector has suffered much and now it is the time to put education back on the track. Political prisoners should be released on bail and only those leaders and people should be kept behind bars who are really a threat to peace. Since the BDC elections have been announced and the government should release the political leaders forthwith. In any case normalcy should be restored and muscular policy cannot be used in a democracy. The doubts and unfounded suspicions about the loss of land and jobs should be cleared. People's participation should be ensured so that normalcy is restored at the earliest. People's fears are a farce and are unfounded and there is no ground for the fears of the People. Rest normalcy is required badly in Kashmir so that unfounded fears and suspensions are given a go by.
