5th JK Agricultural Science Congress concludes

Jammu, Oct 16: 5th Jammu and Kashmir Agricultural Science Congress concluded at the Baba Jito Auditorium of Main Campus Chatha of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu. The Congress on the theme "Climate Change Management for Sustainable Agriculture, Livestock Farming and Ecological Development" was organized in collaboration with J&K State Council for Science & Technology Government of Jammu and Kashmir. More than 300 delegates across the country participated in the three day deliberations .11 lead lectures were delivered, 37 oral presentations were made and more than 35 posters were displayed during the Congress. Dr. Bhav Kumar Sinha, Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Dr. Arvind Isher got best oral presentation awards whereas Dr. Vivek M. Arya, Sonam Chauhan, Simrandeep Kour got best poster presentation awards in their respective fields. Professor Nazir Ahmad VC SKUAST-K was the chief guest in the valedictory function of the Congress that was divided into seven different sub-themes focusing on climate change. Dr Nazir spoke about emerging challenges in plant and animal sciences, sustainable use of land and water resources, farm diversification, upcoming abiotic and biotic problems and strategies to overcome them. He informed that brainstorming information during this event will enlighten the delegates which will help them in shaping their future research road map keeping challenges for Climate Change Management for sustainable agriculture in their mind.
