BJP wins absolute majority in Kishtwar BDC elections, NC proxies draw black in strong hold
Congress backed candidates wins 2, NC 1, Independent 2, one candidate secured zero vote

Jammu, Oct 24: Ridding on the luck, the BJP in Kishtwar District manage to grab seven blocks of Kishtwar District out of the 13 blocks including National Conference strong bastion and 99% Muslim Dominated Block of Marwah beside win prestigious block of Thakrie in Inderwal Constituency with one vote and Palmar block on the bases of the toss after both the candidates ended in a tie.
As per the details available with "Early Times", BJP wins seven blocks Viz Kishtwar, Trigam (unopposed), Marwah, Palmar, Dachhan, Padder and Thakrie blocks while Congress backed proxy candidate manage to win two blocks Viz Drabshala and Mughal Maidan, NC proxy candidate manage to win Inderwal block, a strong bastion of Congress party while Nagsini block, a strong hold area of BJP and Bhunwah block a strong hold of Congress party had been won by the Independent candidates.
As per the final results, Independent Candidate Maryam Begum wins from Bhunzwah block by securing 41 votes and beat her opponent Hassena Banoo who beg 31 votes and thus losses by 10 votes.
BJP candidate Satish Kumar manage to win Dachhan block by securing 27 votes and beat Mansoor Ahmed (23 Votes) & Babu Lal (21 votes), both NC affiliated proxy candidates while surprisingly former Hizb militant commander turn Sarpanch Ghulam Mohammad Khanday secured zero vote.
The Congress backed proxy Candidate Suraj Prakash (90 votes) manage to beat BJPs VP Singh (47 votes) from Drabshala block, NC backed proxy candidate Hamida Begum (44 votes) beat Congress backed proxy candidate Rafiqa Begum (17 votes) and BJP Candidate Minnu Kumar (13 votes). Similarly BJP's Suresh Kumar Sharma (40 votes) successfully manage to win Kishtwar block against two NC proxy candidates Liquat Hussain Sheikh (31 votes) and Pyarae Lal (26 votes).
Adil Rasool (13 votes) of BJP manage to defeat Congress backed Amjad Hussain (9 votes) from Marwah block while from Mughal Maidan block, Sharifa Begum (57 votes), Congress proxy defeated BJP's Isha Sharma (50 votes), Independent Canidate Mohammad Ashraf (36 votes) defeated Zeena Begum (34 votes) of BJP. BJPs Arpan Singh (83 votes) manage to beat Independent candidate Jai Lal (25 votes) from Padder block while luck favours BJPs Lalita Devi (16 votes) to beat NC backed proxy candidate Shahzada Banoo (16 votes) through a toss and similarly the luck favour for BJP Thakrie block as well from where party candidate Kishori Lal Shan (19 votes) defeated Congress backed Shams Din (18 votes) by one vote.
Independent candidate from Warwan block namely Haseena Begum (17 votes) beat another Independent Candidate Khalida Begum (16 votes) as both Marwah and Warwan blocks decided to boycott the Panchayat elections following the row over construction of 1200 MW Budsar Power Project.
With the clear result, BJP is all set to form the District Chairman as and when the elections for the same will be held. Beside 13 votes from different blocks of Kishtwar District, two votes are in the form of sitting MP and President Municipal Committee Kishtwar.
NC leaders blame absence of senior party leaders from poll fray for the loss added that after party decided not to context the elections, they left the decision to NC lobbied Panches and Sarpanches to decided at its own who to context as party distances itself from the elections following prevailing situation in the state following abrogation of Article 370 & 35 A that landing senior NC leader Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah in jail after state government found a potential threat in them and decided to put them under detention for maintaining peace and tranquility in the state.
Earlier 12 blocks of Kishtwar District that goes for poll today witnessed 99.48% voting turn out including 8 block with 100% voting turn out with 963 voters including 306 females cast their votes.
