Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep & Fisheries visited proposed Duck Farm at Narkara Budgam

Budgam, Oct 30: Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry, Sheep, Fisheries and Transport Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon inspected proposed duck farm at wet land Narkara Budgam. He was accompanied by ACR Budgam, LDM, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, AD Fisheries, DIO, Tehsildar Budgam and other concerned officials.
During the visit, Dr. Samoon said that a community based duck farm shall be set up at Narkara. He said that the farm will help in generating employment locals and will help in boosting local economy. He instructed Tehsildar Budgam and AD Fisheries to identify land for setting up of community based pond where carps shall be cultured. On the occasion, Dr. Samoon also discussed viability of project for setting up of poultry estate at BK Pora with concerned officials.
He also met various delegations of farmers and distributed medicines among cattle rearers. He instructed Chief Animal Husbandry Officer to upscale artificial insemination so that cattle production is doubled in the district.
Principal Secretary was apprised that production of milk is 6 lac liters per day in the district; on this he instructed that efforts should be made to double these figures by the year 2022. The LDM was instructed to help beneficiaries by sanctioning their cases at an earliest.
Dr. Samoon also emphasized that more unemployed youth should be engaged in this sector and massive awareness camps should be conducted in collaboration with the banks in this regard. He also visited various poultry units set up in the District.
