Jammu, Oct 30: Chairman Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Suraj Parkash Padha chaired Swachh Bharat Standing Committee meeting on Thursday.
The members of the Swachh Bharat Standing Committee viz Yash Pal Sharma, Jyoti Devi, Sandhya Gupta, Gopal Gupta, Rachpal Bhardwaj, S. Inder Singh Sudan attended the meeting. Joint Commissioner (A) Ashish Kumar Gupta also being the member secretary of standing committee, Joint Commissioner (W), S.Jaspal Singh, Municipal Veterinary Officer/Nodal officer (SWM), Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Executive Engineer (T), Arun Gupta, A.E.E (Transport), Er. Talat Mehmood, A.E.E (Mech.), Amitabhh Manhas, Revenue Officer, Ashwani Sodan, Assistant Sanitation Officer and officials of JMC also remained present.
During the meeting Chairman of Swachh Bharat Cmmittee reviewed the functioning and progress of IEC activities under Swachh Bharat (U). MVO/Nodal officer (SWM), JMC explained that till date JMC has organized more than 100 awareness/practical demonstrations of Solid Waste Management in different Schools, Colleges, Resident Welfare Associations, Market Associations, etc. A good response is coming out and some residents has started the home compositing at their own level after awared by JMC.
JMC has already started campaign against "Jammu Against Plastic Pollution" which is still going on. JMC has collected the 5.5 MT of Single use plastic from different Schools, Social and Non-Goverenment Organizations and handed over to NHAI for construction of Jammu-Akhnoor road.
The Chairman directed the JMC authorities to move a proposal for installing of twin bins on main roads and in the streets at the sites identified by the Ward Councillors.
