Heritage School holds seminar on cancer awareness

JAMMU, Nov 4: Heritage school Jammu organised a seminar on Cancer Awareness for senior girls. The guest speaker on the occasion was Dr. Surbhi Kudyar, Associate Consultant Surgical Oncology, American Oncology Institute, ASCOMS. An eminent doctor of J&K, Dr. Surbhi Kudyar is associated with AOI that offers Medical, Radiation, Surgical oncology and Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Surbhi provided the students with valuable insights, facts and information for better health and awareness regarding cervical, breast and ovarian cancer. The focus of the seminar was causes and prevention from risk factors of cancer and cancer diagnostics. She also shared the health hazards caused by preservatives and emulsifiers, the importance of a disciplined life, healthy habits and lifestyle.
Among the dignitaries present were Akash Pradhan, Principal, Heritage School and the Vice-Principal, Mahendra Kanwar who also presented the welcome address.
Pertinent to mention that Nov. 7th is observed as National Cancer Awareness Day. This seminar was a step to empower the students by imparting knowledge about the dreaded disease caused by genetic factors, environmental factors and other carcinogens. The interactive session was highly informative as the apprehensions and queries of the students were answered.
