Jammu, Dec 19: With completion of nine long years of Biodiversity Awareness Initiative through outdoor regular Tree Talk interactions with various stakeholders including youth ,9th Tree Talk foundation Day celebrations were organized in the Floriculture Garden of Bagh e Bahu Jammu where more than 100 college teachers ,university scholars ,students ,members of civil society participated in the learning session onTree and flower identification ,tree associated Biodiversity ,wild crop relatives of cultivated plants and preparation of People's Biodiversity Register.
While addressing green minds ,PCCF Dr Mohit Gera appreciated the concept of Tree Talk ,whole hearted participation of citizens ,experts and students in knowing neighbourhood plants & animals both in traditional & modern perspective.
Indian ethos nurtures compassion & reverence for conservation of Biodiversity ,preparation of People's Biodiversity Register need to capture cultural linkages of communities and ethnic groups.
While sharing vision on diversity of life ,Director Floriculture Kishore Singh Chib underscored the significance of nature education ,heritage interpretation ,Biodiversity familiarity ,sustainable utilization and conservation by involving students, experts & members of rural & urban local bodies as is mandated under Indian Biodiversity Act 2002 & Biodiversity rules 2004.
He applauded dedication of Om Prakash Sharma Vidyarthi IFS in carrying out Tree Talk journey coinciding with UN Decade of Biodiversity 2011-2020. |
