JAMMU, Dec 19: Jammu Municipal Corporation in collaboration with Carmel Convent organised "Swachh Bharat Abhyan" to create awareness on topic 'Say No to Plastic'.
Mayor JMC Chader Mohan Gupta was the Chief Guest and Suraj Prakash Padha, Chairman Swachh Bharat Mission Committee, JMC was the Guest of Honour, Councillor Ward No.52, Kunjwani, Pritam Singh was also present on the occasion.
The school administration along with the staff and students welcomed the guests. The ceremony started with the lighting of lamp, followed by the morning assembly. The students brought single use plastic from their homes, to be collected by JMC.
The speakers further affirmed that the collected material would be sent to NHPC Akhnoor for the purpose of building roads which is another form of recycling.
Jorawar Singh, Associated Representative JMC and Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Nodal Officer Solid Waste Management, JMC enlightened the students regarding Solid Waste Management and thus enhancing the Mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. |
