Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 26: Amit Sharma, Administrator, Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals Jammu has continued with the streak of late night surprise visits in Associated Hospitals of Jammu and he has conducted two late night surprise visits in old and most important and prestigious SMGS Hospital within a span of five days.
Administrator Amit Sharma took a surprise round of Government SMGS Hospital initially over the weekend and pointed out few important shortcomings and later couple of nights afterwards, he again took a round of SMGS Hospital in late night to oversee the functioning and level of improvement after his last visit.
It is worthwhile to mention here that there is a continuous series of surprise inspections and visits to GMC Emergency and all related Associated Hospitals by Administrator Amit Sharma since he took over the charge almost a fortnight ago and there is a massive improvement in the levels of cleanliness, work culture and performance of doctors and para medical staff since then. The public has restarted developing faith in getting treatment in Government Hospitals but this gradual change has to continue and total professionalism has to be introduced for complete overhauling in functioning of these Institutions of vital importance.
During the two visits, Amit has repeatedly pointed out that there has to be some immediate arrangement for accommodating relatives of patients getting treated in SMGS especially in current severe winter nights as they have no option but to sit and sleep in the corridors outside the wards, labour room, pediatrics emergency, etc at this moment and he directed the concerned Medical Superintendent to take necessary steps to mitigate this challenge on war-footing basis.
Similarly, Amit Sharma expressed concern over the quality of cleanliness especially inside the washrooms area ground floor of SMGS Hospital and he sternly warned and directed Sulabh Shauchalaya and related Hospital staff to ensure best performance or face the axe in the coming days.
During a round of ENT Operation Theatre located on the first floor, Amit found that few major equipment were out of order and they require immediate repairs and replacement and accordingly, he directed all concerned to do the needful for same within no time as the general public keeps suffering because of it.
Administrator Amit Sharma also checked the roster registers of CMOs and doctors of different departments and para medical staff was directed to wear proper uniforms with name plates and I-Cards so that the patients and public are able to identify them easily and later connect with them at ease.
Amit Sharma also visited the old Blood Bank of SMGS and enquired about the availability and stock of blood of different groups, plasma, packed cells, etc. there.
Before leaving the Hospital in last Inspection, Amit Sharma also took a review of security arrangement within and outside SMGS Hospital complex and directed security on duty to remain alert, agile and focused towards maintaining highest security standards.
