Director inspects Seed Multiplication Farm Chinore

JAMMU, Dec 29: Director Agriculture, Jammu, Inder Jeet reviewed the functioning of Seed Multiplication Farm, Chinore during his visit to the border area and inspected the field condition of different crops.
Inder Jeet inspected the ongoing mechanized weed management operation at the farm. The Director also showed his keen interest in latest machinery being used at the farm like combines, seed drills, trans-planters, multi-crop-threshers, tractors, potato planters, ridgers, offsets and otherts and said that efficient use of the machinery should be ensured. He said that there is still much scope to boost production and productivity through implementation of latest farm production techniques.
Deputy Director Agriculture (Central), Ravinder Thaploo, who accompanied the Director, apprised him of the developments made in the quality seed production of crops at the Farm despite having limitations of irrigation facilities and staff shortage. It was informed that the farm is spread over an area of 2586 acres out of which 300 acres is irrigated. Farm Manager SM Farm Chinore, Sanjay Verma informed that about 2000 acres of land is being covered under different varieties of Wheat, 197 acres under Fodder and 100 acres under different Oilseeds and Pulses during current Rabi season. He further added that that foundation and breeder seed of elite and high yielding varieties of wheat, oats, barseem, mustard and pulse crops are being raised and multiplied at the farm in for multiplication and supply to the farmers.
Other who accompanied the Director Agriculture during his visit includes Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu, F.A. Bhat, SDAO, Marh, M. R. Rakwal besides others.
