Chief Justice inaugurates Day-Care Centre for elderly at Kathua

KATHUA, Dec 29: Chief Justice, Jammu & Kashmir High Court, Justice Gita Mittal today inaugurated 'Ahata-E-Waqar'- Day-Care & Recreation Centre for senior citizens here at Irrigation Colony, Kathua
Justice, Jammu & Kashmir High Court, Sanjeev Kumar Shukla was also present on the occasion.
Chief Justice who is also Patron-in-Chief, Legal Services Authority after inaugurating the Centre said 'Ahata-E-Waqar' will act as a place where elderly people can live with dignity and honour. She said that senior citizens are the strength of the nation.
"This will be a place of cheerfulness where senior citizens can meet, share their experiences, spelling out solutions to the social issues and guiding the society using their years of experiences and expertise in different fields" she added.
She also highlighted the facilities at Swabhiman Parisar for the welfare of senior citizens in Delhi which was set up in 2016 and assured that all the facilities available at Swabhiman Parisar will be made available at newly inaugurated Centre in a phased manner.
Justice Sanjeev Shukla on the occasion said Centre is a forum where senior citizens can sit together and share their happiness. He said this Centre will provide space so that they don't feel isolated and ignored.
Registrar General JK High Court Jammu, Sanjay Dhar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, Javaid Ahmed, Member Secretary J&K Legal Services Authority, M.K. Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, O.P. Bhagat, Principal District & Sessions Judge, P D Kotwal, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Director General Social Welfare Deptt., Rehana Batool and other members of District Court, Senior Executive of Chenab Textile Mills, members of Bar association besides senior and prominent citizens in large numbers attended the inaugural function.
Principal District & Sessions Judge delivered the welcome address while Additional District Sessions Judge presented the vote of thanks.
